Stage 6 of the Ulster Road Wastewater Pipeline Replacement will begin on Friday, 11 October and will involve the northbound closure of Ulster Road between North Road and Bardley Road.
On Wednesday morning an excited group of fifty-nine Year Five students came to school carrying swags, pillows and overnight bags ready for two days full of activities exploring our local area.
We started the day with a bus ride to the Albany CBD where students participated in the ‘Albany Amazing Race’. In small groups students had to be observant and answer questions about places and signs in the area that they may have seen often, but never really paid close attention to. Students also had to use their budgeting skills to purchase an outfit for a fashion parade. Thank you to our parent helpers, Mrs Smart, Mrs Leo, Mrs Vrbasso, Miss Roberts, Mr Boorman, Ms Turner, Mrs Hanna and Mrs Dryhurst.
After we discovered that TEAMWORK was needed to be successful, we headed to Eyre’s Park for lunch and play. Then it was off to Middleton Beach for some community service and a mega sandcastle competition. Once again teamwork was important, and our winning group made a magnificent castle by working together.
We headed back to school and discovered that the school seems quite different after hours. We enjoyed tabloid sports, a fashion parade and a quiz night as well as a delicious dinner donated by the parents. Everyone got some sleep at the grand sleepover which the teachers were thankful for, and everyone was hungry for an early breakfast in the undercover area.
On Thursday everyone had their walking shoes on as they headed up the boardwalk to explore the old Point King Lighthouse. Afterwards we also explored the Desert Mounted Corp Memorial on Mount Clarence, followed a scenic bushwalk to the Forts and a scrumptious fish and chip lunch. We returned to school tired and happy and would like to thank the staff and students for their hard work and positive attitude that ensured the camp ran smoothly.
This morning’s athletics training emphasised refining sprinting technique. We worked on starting positions, maintaining form, and optimising stride frequency and arm movement. Students showed progress in efficiency and control, gaining confidence for their upcoming inter-school carnival Great energy throughout!
The following dates are for our upcoming training sessions:
Week 5: Thursday 7th of November 7:45am
Week 6: Monday 11th of November 7:45am
