In Science the Year Five students have been learning about the solar system. Today we created a scale model of the solar system, and were able to show it on the school oval with a ping pong ball representing the sun. At this scale, the size of the planets were represented by small sprinkles or beads. It gave the students a wonderful appreciation of the overall scale of our solar system and vastness. Students were all allocated rolls, including measuring, and holding planets. Teamwork was excellent with everyone doing their role well and two groups of students produced two scale models. A future project will be showing the solar system on a poster, so after today's task it will be interesting to see how each student represents their work.

Feast Day: February 27
Patron Saint of: Students and young people
Life:
Born in 1838 to a large Italian family, Gabriel was a popular and cheerful young man whose spirit of prayer, love for the poor and consideration for others made a deep impression on everyone he met. He was an example for young and old and was made a Saint in 1920.
Prayer:
O Saint Gabriel, we wish, like you, to grow in love for God. Remember us in our trials, especially those who are young. Support us by your prayers all our days. And when this life is done may we join you in heaven in the company of Jesus and Mary. Amen. St Gabriel, Pray for us.
There has been some confusion this week due to number of changes to Transperth bus routes and the Ulster Road roadworks are not helping the situation. Many buses are running later than planned. Hopefully, all buses will return to expected times when the Ulster Road roadworks are complete.
If your child lives in the Lower King / Bayonet Head region and usually goes home on the 735.
If your child lives in the Gledhow/ South Coast Hwy area the best bus for you to catch home is the 742 which arrives at school at approximately 3.10pm. You need to be prompt in getting to the bus.
If you are confused at all, please contact Mr Morcom or Mrs Trichilo, we are happy to help.
Further details below
Students in the Secondary school if they choose, may wear their house shirt each Friday for the remainder of the term. This is due to the prefects suggesting the idea to the College Executive and a trial being granted until the end of the term.
TRIAL DETAILS
At the end of term, the trial will be reviewed by the prefects and staff. They will review student and staff feedback, If students are abiding by the trial details and wearing the correct uniform on the correct day.
It is important that people remember that the trial is a wellness initiative and on Friday's students can choose the uniform they feel most comfortable in.
Any further queries, please see Mr Landells, Mr Trichilo or Mr Morcom
Over the past few weeks, our Year Six students have truly stepped up as leaders, embracing a special role in our school community. Spending time in the library with our youngest learners, they have been guiding our three-year-olds in choosing books and reading to them with care and enthusiasm.
It’s been heartwarming to see the bonds forming between the big and the small, our oldest students sharing their love of reading while our youngest ones soak up the joy of stories.
On Friday 21st February, students from Years 1-3 enjoyed a day of fun and laughter at Emu Point, participating in the annual Beach Day at the beautiful Albany location. Activities included Beach Soccer, Parachute games, Sponge and Bucket relay and the very popular Slip N' Slide. A big thank you to the St. Joseph's Junior School staff who helped with the activities, and to the Year 6 Leaders who were outstanding in their leadership and enthusiasm.
