During the Lenten season we are challenged to embrace the three pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving in preparation for Easter. This year we asked every student in the College to write down someone or something that they would like to pray for.
Whether our students prayers be for family members, pets, good health, world peace and more, we know that the power of prayer is transformative and although we may not always get what we want, by faith we can be confident that we will always get what we need.
"Remember that you are never alone, Christ is with you everyday of your lives" - Saint Pope John Paul II
This year, Media Production has been introduced as a new subject in Years 11 and 12. Semester One is all about the film industry, and how filmmakers work as a team to overcome challenges and produce engaging stories with a limited budget.
Today was an exciting day, as cameras began to roll on the major film productions students have been working hard to plan over the last few weeks.
Ms Trichilo was the star of the show, kindly volunteering to act as a news reader in a short thriller being produced by Hamish Rus and Caleb Leak.
We look forward to bringing you more updates and set photos as the films begin to take shape!

Every dollar raised by our school community in support of Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion this Lent will help empower people across the world to build stronger, more resilient futures for themselves and their families. People just like Monoranjon.
Monoranjon lives in a coastal village in southwest Bangladesh, one of the regions most affected by climate change. He and his family face extreme heat, cyclones and water scarcities, which often destroy his crops and threaten his livelihood. Things began to change when Monoranjon joined the Community Managed Sustainable Livelihoods and Resilience Program run by Caritas Bangladesh, with the support of Caritas Australia. Through the program, he learnt climate-resilient farming techniques including organic vegetable cultivation and livestock vaccination, meaning he is now able to grow salt-tolerant vegetables and raise livestock. Today, Monoranjon’s income has improved, allowing him to send his children to school and protect their futures from poverty. He also now teaches others in his village, inspiring further change and opportunity across the community.
Watch Monoranjon’s story HERE to learn more about how our school is changing lives around the world - ensuring that people have the tools they need to face poverty, climate change and disaster.
Thank you for standing with us as we Unite Against Poverty this Lent.
Feast Day: March 17
Patron Saint of: Ireland and Engineers
Life:
St. Patrick was two things - humble and courageous. At 16, Patrick was sold as a slave in Ireland and forced to work as a shepherd, suffering greatly from hunger and the cold. He escaped after six years and spent many years studying in France after a spiritual conversion which led him to be a bishop at the age of 43. His great desire was to spread the good news to the Irish which he did until his death.
Prayer:
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in my eyes, Christ in my ears and Christ in my heart. St Patrick, pray for us. Amen.

On Wednesday 11th March our Pre-Primary, Year One, Two and Three students participated in a presentation by Rick the Rock Eagle and his friend Brad. They learnt about being a good friend and that friends appreciate each other, are honest and are trustworthy. Brad, with the help of Rick the Rock Eagle and some student helpers, demonstrated how important it is to look after our friends and to be good to one another. After the presentation the Year One students took part in a skills workshop where they tried out some AFL skills such as handballing and kicking.
On Friday 27th February, students from Years 1-3 enjoyed a day of fun, laughter and sun at Emu Point, participating in the annual Beach Fun Day. Activities included Beach Soccer, Rock, Bridge, Tree Tag, Noodle relays and the very popular Slip N' Slide. A big thank you to the St. Joseph's Junior School staff who helped with the activities, Mr. O'Donnell from the Secondary School for stepping in last minute, and to the Year 6 Leaders who were outstanding in their leadership and enthusiasm on the day.
This term in Biological Science, Year 4 has been studying Living Things. To help us with our learning, we visited the school science lab to explore a fascinating collection of real specimens.
When we walked in, we were amazed to see so many different animals and insects up close. There were preserved snakes, bats, turtles, scorpions, butterflies, and all kinds of bugs. Some were tiny and delicate, while others looked a little scary! We even had the chance to look at some specimens under the microscope, which made us feel like real scientists. Under the microscope, we could see incredible details that we would never notice with just our eyes.
The experience was both amazing and a little bit gross at times, especially when looking closely at some of the insects! But everyone agreed it was an unforgettable day.
Here are some of our students’ comments:
“It was the best day ever!”
“I loved seeing all the little animals.”
“I saw bugs I’ve never seen before.”
“It was amazing and gross at the same time!”
The visit helped us understand more about how living things are classified and how they are all different in their own special ways. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience and we can't wait to go back again soon!
