Year 7 Challenge

Posted: Tuesday 26 May 2026

Back in Week 3, our Year 7 students embarked on their much-anticipated camping experience. Blessed with glorious weather, students embraced every opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, build friendships and develop resilience. A highlight of the Challenge was the completion of two iconic local hikes - Castle Rock and Bluff Knoll. Students pushed themselves both physically and mentally as they tackled these challenging climbs and their sense of achievement at the summits was clear to see. The stunning views provided the perfect reward for their efforts.

Students stayed at Stirling Range Retreat, where they experienced camping in tents and enjoyed time connecting with one another in the great outdoors. Another highlight was enjoying a relaxed evening under the stars with an outdoor movie, and the last day included a fun and energetic 10-pin bowling session, where students witnessed some excellent strikes!

Throughout the Challenge, students demonstrated enthusiasm, teamwork and a willingness to give everything a go. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces by the end of the experience, with students returning home with a real sense of accomplishment and last memories.

Saint Joan of Arc

Feast Day: May 30

Patron Saint of: France & The Military

Life:

Born in Paris in 1412, Joan led French troops against the English during the Hundred Years War. After she was captured by the English, Joan was put on trial and accused of being a witch, burnt alive at the stake in . In 1431 she was burned alive at the stake. Joan had a great love for the sacraments, which strengthened her compassion toward the poor and has been the subject of many books, plays and movies.

Prayer:

In the face of your enemies, in the face of harassment, ridicule, and doubt, you held firm in your faith. Even in your abandonment, alone and without friends, you held firm in your faith. Even as you faced your own mortality, you held firm in your faith.

I pray that I may be as bold in my beliefs as you, St. Joan. I ask that you ride alongside me in my own battles. Help me be mindful that what is worthwhile can be won when I persist. Help me hold firm in my faith. Help me believe in my ability to act well and wisely. Amen. St Joan of Arc, pray for us.

Vinnies Winter Appeal 2026

Vinnies WA has launched its annual Winter Appeal for 2026!

As unprecedent demand for assistance across Western Australia continues with more people than ever being forced onto the streets, the College is committed to assisting those struggling in our community through our annual winter food and blanket drive.

Collection boxes will be in each classroom and homeroom for any non-perishable food items that you wish to donate. This year we will also be collecting blankets and warm clothing (jumpers, trackies, beanies, scarves) that are clean and in new or good condition - these can be dropped in at either Library.

On behalf of the College, I would like to thank you for the generosity and commitment that you show each and every year.

Interhouse Cross Country Carnival

Junior School
Posted: Wednesday 3 June 2026

On Friday 22nd of May, students in the Junior School gathered on the oval to participate in the annual Interhouse Cross Country Carnival. The Pre-Primary students raced in their first ever carnival and were the first event of the day, running their 500m course with enthusiasm and effort. In between races, there was plenty of House spirit being shown from the House bays, and the Tug-of-War competition added to the excitement of the day. Congratulations to Cunningham on being crowned overall winners yet again! This special edition features an exciting lineup of emerging Australian artists, headlined by Darcie Haven – fresh off a #2 ARIA-charting EP and sold-out national tour. Joining her is Perth indie-pop artist Newport, alongside WA acts Shorehaven and Navy June, and local legends Freak Maestro.

Young people can expect:

  1. A safe and supervised all ages event
  2. A live music experience in Albany Town Hall
  3. An alcohol-free bar and inclusive atmosphere (with a chill out zone run by Wanslea/Uplyft)
  4. A chance to discover some of Australia’s most exciting emerging artists

The event aims to create more accessible entertainment options for young people locally, while also supporting youth engagement in arts and culture. I’d greatly appreciate any support you can offer in helping spread the word to students and families through your usual channels (newsletters, notices, socials, student bulletins, etc.).
